John Mitchells retained the senior league final with a robust performance at Green bank road in Liverpool on Sunday. The conditions were perfect for football and John Mitchells started the brighter with Paddy Mulligan scoring the first two points within minutes of the throw in. Oisin competed well and started to get a grip of mid field with Tom Conneely battling well set up the 1st Oisin point for Kevin Swift to slot over.

Kevin Kane put Mitchells 2 points clear with an excellent long range effort. Oisin started to dominate for a short period but could not capitalise and saw 4 pointable opportunities go wide. Mulligan stretched the defecit to 3 points from a free and Conneely redued it to two points with about 10 minutes left in the 1st half.
Then due to a serious leg injury sustained by Ciaran O Connor the Oisin full back the game was held up for up to 30 minutes whilst Ambulance crew were called to attend to the injury.

The game resumed with Anto Lavin filling in the full back spot and Jason Walker going to half back john Mitchells Michael Molloy pointed after good interplay with full forward Andy McDonagh. Just on the stroke of half time John Mitchells got a free and Paddy Mulligan sent in a ball from at 40 yards out and it sailed in over Stranded Oisin goalkeeper Stephen Hunter to leave the score at 1-05 to 0-02 at half time.

Oisin still reeling from the goal on the stroke of half time resumed with some belief and confidence and scored 3 points on the trot , Johnny farmer found himself on the 25m line and pointed over and an excellent point from Richie Coss after a good defensive clearance from Stephen MCrory found Coss and he ran 40meters and the Laois man pointed with the outside of his right foot. Paddy o Donnell now operating in midfield with Conneely pointed to make it 1-05 to 0-05.

Another blow to Oisin when a long ball over the top and the oisin full back line caught napping where Ryan Mullan caught the ball and finished superbly to the bottom corner. This knocked the stuffing out of the Oisin lads and Both teams cancelled each other out with points from Kane and Mcdonagh and points from McGahan and Chrissy O Connor. The Mitchells half back Phillip Duddy pointed after excellent one two with Daryl McConnell but the game was over when Mullan netted and Kane scored another point. Oisin finished off with Kevin swift pointing after being put through by Coss and J Farmer pointed a free after Conneely was fouled to leave the scores at J Mitchells 3-09 Oisin 0-10.

Paul Tolan the chairman of the Lancashire county board presented the cup to captain Colin Phillips and wished him the best as he was leaving to work in Zambia in the next couple of weeks. Paul and Colin also wished on behalf of everyone in Lancashire the speedy recovery of the injured Ciaran O Connor.

All eyes will be on the next meeting of these two clubs in the junior league semi final on 5th September at Greenbank and also the awaited senior championship semi final also on the 12th of September venue to be confirmed.
