Competition: Pennine League Division 1
Venue: Old Bedians
On Saturday last, St. Peter`s of Manchester overcame a spirited display from homeside Oisin`s to claim two points that all but guarantees the men in black & amber a place in this year`s Pennine League Division 1 semi-finals. Oisin`s will have left Old Bedian`s knowing they had opportunities to reel in their city neighbours and take themselves off the foot of the table.
On a glorious sunny afternoon, Oisin`s started the brighter and Karl McNamee pointed from distance after some good build up play from his midfielders. Stephen Lavery responded for the visitors who were playing against a stiff first half breeze. Taking advantage of the space created in playing 13 a side, Oisin`s sent a long ball towards corner forward Richie Coss. He met the leather before an onrushing Joe Corcoran in the St. Peter`s goal and slotted the ball to the St. Peter`s net despite the best efforts of Shane Kincaid and Kevin Toohey on the goal line.
